17th November – 1st December 2014 El Calafate - Argentina, Puerto Natales, Torres del Paine National Park - Chile,
Ushuaia - Argentina

  • These days were mainly about hiking, seeing natural wonders and sleeping in tents. Also for the first and great time being at a couch surfing place. I was pretty exhausted by the end of the 1st month, but also filled with so much beauty and precious time spent with others and also by myself.
  • The South Patagonia ice fields cover 13,000 km² area, where Perito Moreno takes 257 square km of this ice formation. One of the world's most famous glacier is in constant motion and in spite of the global warming is not reducing, but growing. The 50-55 m high ice wall is stretching 14 km long from the foot of the mountains. Its width is 4-5 km.
  • Chile's amazing Torres del Paine National Park is offering 4-5 day tours for hikers. The starting point to the national park lies in the beautifully located Puerto Natales.
  • I also started from this place the popular W tour (the trail displays a W format). A dream trip with a number of majestic mountain peaks, where, as in every natural environment, it does not matter where you are from, what do you do for living, what you have done, who you are, what you are going to be, what you would like to become or what you eat, what language you speak and how trendy your equipment is, all that matters that you are on the road and you are walking it.
  • Ushuaia, "the capital of Tierra del Fuego" (Land of Fire) is known as the southernmost city in South America. Although there is a more south-lying, permanently inhabited location in Puerto Toro, which belongs to Chile. From Ushuaia ships depart for Antarctica to take the 1000 km journey. In addition to the city's maritime museum I checked the famous prison from which escaping was impossible.
